FIVE MINUTE SKITS ON VALUE EDUCATION

No matter how skilled or learned one becomes, learning to cope with life is the Jirst skll to be acquired. It is here that training in life's values comes in. Each skit in this collection highlights a particular moral value. The skits are short. They require few or no stage props. Hence they may be enacted anywhere and at short notice. They may be used in the moral science classroom with proflt. It is hoped that the pupils Involvement in the presentation of the skit will help to enliven the formal value-education classes. Although the moral in each skit is self-evident, one of the characters rounds off the action by commenting on the story and elaborating the moral lesson. It is up to the imaginative teacher to use the skits in aryway she wants in the classroom. Discussions and question-ansuwer sessions may follow the performance. The morning assembly may be another ideal forum for a skit. School Social Service Clubs or Dramatic Clubs may put up one as a street play in a convenient corner of the school complex during recess. Such an activity not only helps in imparting values but also trains the participants in many other ways. In a word. these skits may serve both as drama and as value education.
